Just finished Mockingjay. The pace was fantastic as it gripped my attention throughout, but it is really violent. Although the brutality is somewhat justified by the context of the war, I found the twisted ways in which humans hurt humans (physically and psychologically) more than a bit irksome. This being said, it is partly a tribute to Suzanne Collins' excellent description that places the reader in the streets of the Capitol. Please share a comment about what you thought.
I read Mockingjay last winter and couldn't put it down! I agree that it is definitely violent and gruesome, but it didn't feel gratuitous (put there simply for shock value). Creepy and disturbing, but well worth the read if you are not too easily frightened! I wonder what Suzanne Collins will write next...
